Gough Wins Limited Late Model Feature At East Bay

TAMPA, FL – Forrest Gough took the early lead in Saturday night’s Limited Late Model feature, and would go on to score the victory at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL.

Scotty Williams and Gough would start the feature on the front row, with Gough moving into the early lead. The first caution would fly on lap one when several drivers spun in turn four. All drivers were able to continue. Caution flew again on lap four when Ricky Land spun in turn two.

Several more cautions would also come out during the feature but Gough was able to hold off Roger Crouse to pick up his fifth feature win of the season, extending his points lead over Dale Pope. Richard Livernois, Jr. finished in third, with Austin Sanders in fourth and Jason Pope in fifth.

In other action, the first feature of the night belonged to the V8 Warriors with Derek Gray and Jimmy Baker making up the front row for the 15 lap feature event. When the green waved Gray showed the way until Jeremey Simpson stopped in turn four with a right rear flat on lap two. Another caution come out on the following lap as Bo Anderson and Roberto Morfin, Sr, tangled in turn 2.

Jimmy Baker took the lead over from Gray on lap five and on lap six Raymond Vann spun breaking an axle to end his night. On lap six it would be a single file restart with Mike Wilson moving up to second. Baker and Wilson would run side by side at the line on lap seven as Wilson took over the lead with Baker cutting a right rear tire. Baker would take it to the pits and make it back out before the green waved. Wilson went on to win his second feature of the year. Rounding out the top five were Tim Stoffel, Nicholas Schneider, Henry Wiley, and Jimmy Baker.

Next up were the Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds as Nate Bregenzer and Austin Sanders made up the front row. Sanders would take the early lead with Bregenzer and Reutimann trailing. The first caution came out on lap six when James Decker spun in turn two. Sanders went on to win his first feature of the season with Travis Varnadore in second, Matt Miller in third, Bregenzer in fourth and Reutimann in fifth.

The Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers were next with Cindy Mann and Kayla Jones bringing the field to green. Jones quickly took over the top spot with Eddie Summitt and Patrick Fiore, Sr. the top three. Fiore, Sr. took over the lead from Jones on lap five and would go on to pick up the win. Kayla Jones finished in second, with Britt Mann in third, George Handy in fourth and Richard Humfeld in fifth.

Outlaw Fours were next up as Brandon Yates and Brian Barse brought the field down to the start. Yates led the first four laps until Don R. Quinn spun, collecting Stephen Hohlbaugh. On the restart Yates led with Zach Amundsen, Brian Barse, Nick Hebrank and Mark Moniz rounding out the top five. On lap five Amundsen spun in turn two sending him to the tail end of the field. Yates would lead the field to the green once again as Barse moved up to second with Hebrank in third. Yates and Barse would battle side by side at the line until Barse took over the lead and went on to win back to back features. Hebrank finished in second, followed by Zach Amundsen, Brandon Yates and Mark Moniz.

The final event of the night was the Ladies Powder Puff in the 4 Cylinder Bombers. Nine ladies had signed up for the 10 lap feature. On the front row it would be Michelle Valdez and Angela Bryant. On the drop of the green waved Valdez quickly jumped out into the lead with Bryant and Kelly Prather in pursuit. Prather took over the lead until lap four when caution came out for Kendra Quinn.

Back under green, Valdez and Prather would make contact on the front stretch sending both drivers to the rear of the field. Bryant inherited the lead with Caitlin Fleming and Shelby Ingram rounding out the top three. Bryant and Fleming would battle it out as they were coming to the checkered flag. Contact between Bryant and Fleming resulted in Bryant rolling and Fleming hitting the frontstretch wall. Seeing her opportunity for the win, Kendra Quinn drove on to the checkered to score her very first feature win. Rounding out the top five were Kelly Prather, Michelle Valdez, Angela Bryant and Caitlin Fleming.
