Brayton Haws Scores Late Model Victory At Hickory

NEWTON, NC – Brayton Haws came out on top of a last lap battle with Landon Huffman to pick up his first Bojangles’ Late Model feature win of the season at Hickory Motor Speedway in Newton, NC Saturday night.

Josh Berry set fast time during qualifying and led the field to green for the 50-lap feature event, but fell back in the running order by lap five allowing Huffman the opportunity to settle into the lead. Huffman would remain out front until a late race caution period stacked up the field. On the restart it became a four car battle between Huffman, Haws, Berry and Matt Piercy. Haws and Huffman made contact coming to the checkered checkered flag, with Haws taking the win, leaving Huffman to settle for second. Berry came in third, with Piercy in fourth and Austin McDaniel in fifth.

Dillon Wilson brought the competition to the green flag for the start of the 35-lap Gold King Limited Late Model event, but relinquished his position in the running order to Casey Pierce on lap eight. Pierce went on to pick up the win leaving Wilson in second, Charlie Watson in third, Taylor Stricklin in fourth and Trent Barnes in fifth.

Dan Moore started the Street Stocks race from the pole position but Kevin Townsend took over the lead during the early laps of the 30-lap event. A caution on lap 20 put Moore back in position to regain his spot in front of the field during the closing laps. Moore went on to collect the victory. Marshall Sutton, Kevin Eby, Larry Mosher and Mark Whitten rounded out the top five.

Chase Pollard led the 4-Cylinder field to the green flag, and created a sizable lead over the competition during the early laps on his way to victory lane. Eddie Gilbert finished in second, with Curtis Pardue in third, Matthew Elledge in fourth and Rob Lewis in fifth.
