Bowling and Peyton Sellers, who had rallied from his 11th starting position to move into third place on the 52nd lap, kept the pressure on Thaxton, but Thaxton held off the two challengers, edging Sellers, who swept the season-opening twinbill, by .428-second.

Bowling finished third, with Brandon Butler of Sutherland and division rookie Michael Maresca of Hannawa Falls, NY rounding out the top five finishers.

Bobby McCarty of Summerfield, NC, Bruce Anderson of South Boston, VA, Tommy Lemons Jr. of Troy, NC, C.E. Falk III of Mooresville, NC and Thomas Scott of Mebane, NC rounded out the top ten finishers in the 100-lap race.

Greg Autry of South Boston, VA is a perfect two-for-two.

Johnny Layne of Nathalie, VA finished second with Bruce Mayo of Halifax, VA, Jimmy Wade of Halifax, VA and Jeff Deering of Axton, VA rounding out the top five finishers.

Mike Rudy of Prince George, VA jumped up to wrestle second place from Johnson a lap later and held on to second place the rest of the way, with Johnson finishing third. Mike Johnson of Midlothian, VA and Matt Slye of Lanexa, VA rounded out the top five finishers.

Corey Whitely of Rougemont, NC won the 15-lap race for South Boston Speedway’s new entry-level Hornets Division that made its debut at the .4-mile oval Saturday afternoon.
