A.J. Maddox moved to the early lead and went on to score the victory in the East Bay Sprints feature at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL Saturday night.
Maddox and Billy Boyd, Jr. started on the front row, with Maddox jumping out to the early lead on the drop of the green. The first caution of the feature flew when Daivvd Kelly spun in turn four. Back under green, Maddox continued to lead the race with Boyd, Jr. trailing him through lapped traffic. The two drivers were working through traffic as Johnny Gilbertson closed on them from third.
Caution flew again on lap 15 when D.J. Peeples slowed on the track, stacking the field for the restart. On the drop of the green, Maddox was able to hold off Boyd, Jr. for the remainder of the race to pick up the win. Johnny Gilbertson finished in third, with Kurt Taylor in fourth and Frank Beck in fifth.
In other action, the first feature of the night went to the V8 Warriors. Winning their heats early on were Ryan Lisak and Kevin Cassaday. Henry Wiley and Kevin Cassaday brought the field to green, with Cassaday moving to the lead. His stay in the top spot would last for the first four laps until Raymond Vann powered by for the lead. Vann would come under fire from Jimmy Baker three laps later, as the two battled side by side. The fight was broken up on lap eight when Wiley spun in turn four bringing out the first caution of the race. On lap 13 Mike Wilson would try to take the second spot away from Baker only to bring out the second caution when he spun in turn four. Vann would go on to pick up the win, with Baker in second, Cassaday in third, Ryan Lisak in fourth and Tim Stoffel in fifth.
Next up were the Limited Late Models. Richard Livernois, Jr. and Dale Pope started on the front row. Livernois, Jr. quickly jumped out in front to lead the first seven laps until Jason Pope spun turn four to bring out the first caution. Back under green, Forrest Gough moved around Livernois, Jr. on lap eight to take over the lead. Several more cautions would come out, but it was Gough winning the race with Roger Crouse, Dale Pope, Thomas Scott and Livernois, Jr. rounding out the top five.
The final feature of the night was a caution free race as the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers when green to checker with Defending Champion John Moore picking up the win. George Handy finished second, followed by Richard Humfeld, Patrick Fiore, Sr. and Aaron Yanke.
