Berry Drives To Victory Lane At Hickory Motor Speedway

Josh Berry scored his first Bojangles’ Late Model victory of the season Saturday night after taking the lead near the halfway point of the feature at Hickory Motor Speedway in Newton, NC.

Josh Berry brought the field to the green flag, but surrendered the top position to Landon Huffman within the first 10 laps. Berry regained the lead on lap 23, bringing William Byron with him to settle into second. Berry would go on to collect his first win of the 2014 season. Byron finished in second, with Huffman in third, Shane Lee in fourth and Ashley Huffman in fifth.

In other action, Casey Pierce earned the pole position for the start of the Gold King Limited Late Model feature and paced the field for the majority of the caution filled event. Pierce was able to fight of the competition during several restarts and remained out front until lap 26 when Dylon Wilson took over the top spot. Wilson picked up the win Pierce finishing in second, Ross Dalton in third, Travis Byrd in fourth and Taylor Stricklin in fifth.

Kevin Townsend paced the field for the Street Stock feature. Townsend remained out front and held off the competition during restarts following caution periods on lap 11 and 26. Townsend went on to lead all 30 laps, taking the checkered flag for the victory. Carroll McKinney, Kevin Eby, Cody DeMarmels and Marshall Sutton rounded out the top five.

Spencer Boyd put on a dominating performance in the 35-lap Super Truck feature. Starting from the pole position, Boyd went on to lead the competition for the full event grabbing victory. Lee Queen finished in second, with Dakota Slagle in third, Whitney Lail in fourth and Tal Davidson in fifth.

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series will take a break next week following up with Round 2 of the Paramount Kia Big 10 Racing Challenge on March 29, allowing the KOMA Unwind Modified Madness Series an opportunity to take on the historic Hickory Motor Speedway.
