Ten time United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee added another notch in the USCS win column at Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA on Friday night.
Gray who started from the K&N Filters Pole Position, bested defending USCS National Champion Tim Crawley, who finished in the runner-up spot for the win in the 20-lap Senoia Summer Nationals IV night one preliminary.
Gray’s team-mate, Morgan Turpen, raced across the finish line in third place. Current USCS National point’s leader Derek Hagar finished in fourth place and Rookie of the Year contender Curt Terrell completed the top five drivers at the finish. Lee Moore finished ahead of the next group of drivers in sixth place. Another Top Rookie contender, Taylor, followed in the seventh position. Jeff Willingham followed in eighth place. Ray Bugg finished in ninth place and Eric Riggins, Jr. completed the top ten drivers.
Hagar won the Hoosier Tire Speed Dash. Gray then and then took a victory in the first heat. Moore held of a hard charging Crawley for the win in the second heat.
In other action, Sean Hosey from Clarksville, Tennessee raced from the K&N Filters Pole Position into the lead on lap one of the fifteen-lap USCS 600 Sprint Car Series feature and never looked back to reach the USCS victory lane for the third time in the 2013 season.
Mike Magic from Winder, Georgia chased the 17 year old for the entire distance but could not mount the momentum for a pass on the high-banked and high-speed 3/8 mile red clay oval. Bob Trapino from Alpharetta, Georgia finished in third place. He was followed by Kyle Amerson, who started at the rear of the field and charged back to fourth place. Cassie Klenke rounded out the top five finishers.
Tyler Price followed the top group in sixth place. Shaun Fitzgerald finished in the seventh position followed by Scott Berkheiser in eighth place. Thirteen year-old Rookie of the Year points leader Brandon Taylor from Cumming, Georgia and defending series Champion Bobby Zaiontz completed the field.
Amerson won the evening’s six-lap Hoosier Race Tire Speed Dash. Trapino won the first heat. Magic won the second heat.
Unfortunately, rain washed out Saturday’s finals of the Senoia Summer Nationals IV, leading to the cancellation of the event.
The next event for both series is at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, North Carolina on Friday, October 4.
