For at least the second time in its 30 year history, the World Crown 300 has been postponed due to weather.
In an announcement sent out Monday night, officials at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, GA announced that the famed event, originally slated for Thursday, July 4, has been postponed. With forecasts calling for a 70% chance of rain, the track made the decision to wait for a better day to run the race.
“A rain date has not been determined at this time, but a date will be announced as soon as possible,” the track said in an emailed release Monday evening. “All tickets received, purchased or won will be redeemable for the rescheduled date of the Slack Auto Parts World Crown 300 and Fireworks sponsored by Royal Oak.”
The event has been rain postponed at least once before in its 30 year history. The first time was in 1985, when rain pushed the event from a slated October date to early November. Mike Eddy came away with the victory.
