Trey White survived a three wide tussle at the beginning of Saturday night’s Mid-Season Championship race in the Jodeco Auto Sales Late Models at Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA.

The Jenkinsburg hot shoe held off Columbus’ JR Moseley and LaGrange’s Dennis Hale to snag the lead and then never looked back posting the win and taking home the honors for the high powered late model division.

Joining White with Mid-Season Championship feature laurels were Alabama’s Roger Arnett in the Newnan Bonding B Cadet, Roopville’s Clifton Moran in the Summit Racing Equipment Hobby Stocks, Brandon Bright of Newnan in the Mini Stock, Bonaire’s Steven Jensen, Jr. in the Bombers and Villa Rica’s Todd Brewster in the Modified Mini. All of the drivers will now set their sights on this Wednesday’s special ‘Sparktacular’ event at the 3/8 mile bull ring.

Trey White topped the field of fifteen entries in Jodeco Auto Sales Late Model qualifying, but the veteran short tracker bobbled in the first turn of the feature. That near miscue allowed first time track visitor JR Mosesley to jump outside and Hale to try the low side out of turn two. White shot out of the middle down the back stretch to grab the lead that he would never relinquish. Hale tried to keep Moseley on the top side, but faded to third on the next circuit.

19-year-old rookie points leader Dusty Jones of LaGrange ran fourth until lap seven when he floated high in turn four allowing Carrollton’s Blant Duke to slip to the inside. LaGrange’s Chad Wallace followed Duke through the hole created dropping Jones and third place driver Hale back a couple of spots. Hale came charging back on the top side of Duke on the next lap when the two touched and spun in front of the hard charging field.

Trey White built a straightaway length lead over Moseley during the final laps. White made his way through lapped traffic while Moseley was caught up behind Newnan’s Nicky Prosser. Moseley worked to get past the lapped car of Prosser on the final lap while also watching Chad Wallace close the gap on his second place position. Prosser lost control of his mount heading down the back stretch and collected Moseley sending both towards the outside turn three concrete. Wallace shot down low to avoid while a hard charging Dusty Jones heard the raceiver call of the spun cars in turn three just in time.

The checkers fell while Prosser and Moseley were sliding up the track. That left the final run down tally with White claiming the victory. Wallace was second. Jones finished third. LaGrange’s Jamie Carr was fourth followed by Hale who had charged back through the field to finish among the top five.

The Newnan Bonding B Cadets tuned up for their big show this Wednesday, July 3 with a Mid-Season Championship feature. The top two drivers in the point standings lined up on the front row with a pair of newcomers from East Alabama Motor Speedway situated in the second row for the feature.

Arnett shot out to the lead at the drop of the green while Kirkland settled into the second place spot. Hurtsboro, Alabama’s Keith Hudson ran third with LaFayette, Alabama’s Marc Gooden was fourth. Alavaton’s Hunter ‘Wildman’ Worley battled with Grantville’s Blake Griffin for the fifth place position.

Worley slipped in turn two while racing with Griffin and slapped the outside retaining wall on lap seven. This scrape caused the only caution of the race and bunched the field back up for the restart.

As the laps clicked off, Arnett was securely in the lead with Kirkland second. Hampton’s Paul ‘Cowboy’ Holloway was on the charge moving past both Hudson and Gooden, but ran out of time as the race stayed green the rest of the way.

Arnett claimed the Mid-Season title for the Newnan Bonding B Cadets with Kirkland second and Holloway third. Gooden and Hudson rounded out the first five finishers.

Clifton ‘Hog Head’ Moran nabbed his forty-eighth career feature win in the Summit Racing Equipment Hobby Stocks. Moran fought hard with Opelika, Alabama’s Allen McConnel through the first thirteen laps of their main event. Moran tried valiantly to work past on the inside, but McConnel would use the top side momentum to inch back in front.

Finally, on lap 14 Moran shot up to the outside of McConnel and then held his line down the front stretch in the narrow gap allowed by McConnel between his racer and the front stretch wall. Moran came out of it in turn one with the lead and then moved on past through the turns. He never looked back posting the win.

Steven Jensen, Jr. snaked his way through the 12 car field of Bombers to take over the lead from Whitesburg’s Derrick Matthews on lap five of the Bomber main event. It was Jensen’s first visit to Senoia Raceway after being a regular competitor at Cochran Speedway. The 19-year-old competitor was successful in his inaugural race as he held the point through the checkers. Moreland’s Michael Mills ran second with Matthews third. Peachtree City’s Randy Cornwell was fourth followed by the ‘Riverdale Rocket’ Mike Ray.

Brandon Bright returned to victory lane in the Mini Stocks. Bright suffered a blown engine a few weeks back, but was back in force Saturday night claiming the win and the Mid-Season crown. Newnan’s Bobby ‘Wild Child’ Arnold had his three race win streak snapped finished second to Bright. Hampton’s Marc Leath was third.

Todd Brewster won the main event and Mid-Season title for the Modified Mini. Brewster’s victory on a double points night also gave him back the divisional points lead as he overtook Robbie Scadron.

Senoia Raceway hosts it’s July 3 ‘Sparktacular’ this Wednesday, July 3. The holiday special event will feature a full night of stock car racing in the Jodeco Auto Sales Late Models, Summit Racing Equipment Hobby Stocks, Mini Stocks, Bombers and Modified Mini. The Newnan Bonding B Cadets will compete in a special 30-lap main event paying $1000 to the winner. The night will conclude with the area’s first Fireworks display.
