Davey Coble picked up his first career win in the Hunter Sand and Gravel Pro Late Model division on Marty Robbins night at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville in Nashville, TN on Saturday.

Sterling Marlin started the night going for his third consecutive win in the Pro Late Model division. He started third and had worked his way to second before the first caution flew for a crash that took out contenders Clay Alexander, Michael Bolden, and Austin Brawley.

Marlin took advantage of the caution and came in to make some adjustments. This forced him to start near the rear of the field. The green flag did not stay out again for long. This time Jeff O’Neill spun down the frontstretch, collecting Marlin and ending his shot at three straight.

This left Davey Coble, Dillon Oliver, and Tucker Wingo to battle up at the front. Oliver led a good portion of the race, but was forced to the pit area when he experienced mechanical difficulties. That left Coble all alone out front, as he cruised to his first career Hunter Sand and Gravel Pro Late Model victory. Tucker Wingo finished in second, with Tyler Miles in third, T.W. Fisher in fourth and Justin Ashburn in fifth.

In other action, Allen Carter jumped out to a huge lead from the drop of the green flag in the Express Recycling Limited Late Model feature. After Bobby Terry dropped out with a mechanical issue, it was down to Carter and Steadman Marlin. Marlin’s car came alive late in the run, while Allen Carter seemed to be fading. In one of the best battles of the night, Steadman worked his worked his way around Carter to pick up the win. Allen Carter finished in second, with Kyle Campbell in third, John Earnheart in fourth, and Ryan Lynch in fifth.

In the Open Wheel Modified feature, Billy Melvin took the checkered flag in one of the most competitive races of tonight. Brandon Curren, Jeff Letson, and Michael House were also in the mix for the victory. Curren and Melvin went toe to toe for most of the race until Curren got into the fence, taking him out of contention. Michael House came from the rear of the field after jumping the start of the race two consecutive times, to finish second. Jeff Letson overcame an ignition box issue to finish third. Ken Andrews and Mike Crow rounded out the top five.

In the Coyote Ugly Sportsman feature, Cody Buford was racing for the lead when third place Daniel Bradford got into him from behind. The contact sent Buford to the wall, destroying the rear of his car. Buford wasn’t pleased with the contact and he was seen voicing his opinion with Bradford’s crew in the pits. After all of the smoke settled, Billy Shaffer and Howard Tucker were locked in a tight battle for the checkered flag. Howard gave it everything he had, but Billy Shaffer was able to hang on. Tucker finished in second, Daniel Bradford, Steve Hadley, and Jason Sullivan rounded out the top five.

Bobby Joe Rippey started the Super Street feature from third, but it only took him a couple laps to come away with the lead. Travis Ryman and Robert Forsythe were battling for the lead when Rippey moved to the bottom and passed them both. Rippey was able to hold on for his third straight win of the year. Forsythe finished in second, with Ryman third, Matt Barnes in fourth, and Brian Frazier in fifth.

Terry and Ronald Jackson battled to the very end for the Pure Stock feature win. Both Terry and Ronald were able to get around new comer Mike Oldham for the first and second positions, leaving the two brothers to battle it out for the win. In the end, Ronald Jackson didn’t have enough to catch Terry, who captured the victory. Oldham finished in third, with Matt Adams in fourth, and William Coats in fifth.

Wayne Basket was able to hold off Aaron Ashcraft for the Front Runner feature win. Basket took full advantage of the field inversion that started him on the outside of row one. Ashcraft was forced to start fifth, and never was able to catch Basket. Jeff Taylor finished in third, with Travis Owens in fourth, and Matt Barnes in fifth.

David Moyles was able to capture his first Legends feature win of the season in his D3 car. After a spirited battle with Tyler Cordell for the lead, Moyles was able to get under Cordell and set sail for the win. Chad Davis finished in second, with Cordell in third, Ross Rollings in fourth, and Wayne Grubb in fifth.

Action returns to Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville on Saturday, June 15, as the track presents “A Salute To Our Troops” on their fourth race date of the season. Visit fairgroundsspeedwaynashville.com for more info.
