Trey Gibson chalked up his second victory in as many weeks Saturday night at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Easley, SC in the Late-Model Stock main event, as current points leader Anthony Anders suffered his first racing glitch of the season and finished 11th.

With Gibson taking the win, and not running for points, Marty Ward, who sits second to Anders in the points race, took second to make a huge jump in the standings.

“I qualified on the pole, then threw that that die and rolled another four,” Gibson said in victory lane. “This was my second race in as many weeks, and if the Lord is willing, I am going to try and win again next week. After I rolled that four, and started fourth, on a restart after a caution I washed up the track and managed to get by Ralph Carnes to take the lead. Then, Anthony and I were racing hard and I held my line and we got together.”

After the contact, Anders’ car was off the pace while Gibson drove on to the win.

With Gibson, Ward and Carnes in the top three spots Will Burns was fourth and Randy Porter finished fifth. Maxie Bush was sixth and Ryan Walker was seventh. Darrell Durham, Jr., took eighth, Ron Hall was ninth, and R.J. West was 10th.

Anders is also in the running for National and South Carolina points. He is the defending South Carolina and Myrtle Beach champion. Saturday night’s poor finish should not hurt him in the National Standings where drivers can take their best finishes during the season. In the state and local points, all races count, but he came into the race with a big local lead and has Myrtle Beach racetrack finishes to help his state title points.

Ricky Stephens made it three in a row in the Charger main, going from worst to first, while Dale Walker and Andy Norris finished second and third, respectively. Tim Crowe was fourth and Chris Harvell was fifth.

In the Four Cylinder main event, Charlie Hooper grabbed the victory with Ray Mullinax taking second. Don Tavernia was third, with Brian King and Austin Heil rounding out the top five.

Phillip Peters worked his way to the front and held off Andrew Cordell to win the Renegade division main event. Daniel Jameson took third, with Bobby Emory and Scotty Tyner completing the field.
