Two-time West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS and Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS each picked up their first NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series wins of the season on Saturday night in Week 6 competition. Mother Nature cut a path through Week 6 action, washing out six events.
McDuffie outran a 37-car field of NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Models on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS to score the victory driving the McDuffie Racing Trak-Star. Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL finished second in the High Roller Race Cars Special.
Scott Dedwylder of Vossburg, MS was third driving the Jerry Inmon Race Cars Special for the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS who is on the road to recovery from a serious illness. Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS was fourth in the Lovette Roofing Trak-Star and Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL rounded out the top five in the Summit Resource Development Trak-Star.
Daspit drove the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star to the win on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway. Billy Riels Racing teammates swept the top three spots, as NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point leader Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS was second in the Reynolds Motorsports/Billy Riels Racing GRT, and Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS took the third spot in the Billy Riels Racing GRT.
Owen Stockstill of Purvis, MS finished fourth on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in the Stockstill Trucking Trak-Star, and Steve Bynum of Florence, MS rounded out the top five in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model main event in the Touch of Class Body Shop Trak-Star.
Friday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series events scheduled for Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR, Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL were rained out. Saturday night rainouts were at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN, Talladega Short Track, and at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO.
Arnold remains the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point leader after Week 6 competition. The “Hattiesburg Hustler” has 293 points and holds a ten-point advantage over his teammate Shannon “General” Lee, who has 283 points. Arnold has three wins, seven top five finishes and eight top ten finishes in nine races.
Lee has one win and eight top five finishes in nine races to hold a four-point advantage in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings over the third-place driver, three-time West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS. Keeton has 279 points after six top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in eight events in the Lee Racing Trak-Star.
Daspit used his Week 6 win to move up to the fourth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 277 points. Daspit has turned in one win and six top five finishes in six races.
Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS finished sixth on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in the Mackmer Home Buyers Special, and moved up to the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 264 points. Mackmer has two top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in eight races.
Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS did not transfer to the main event on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park and fell to the sixth position in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 257 points in the Villa South Trak-Star. The “Florence Flash” has one win, three top five finishes, and six top ten finishes in seven races.
Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA did not compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 6 competition, and dropped to seventh in the standings with 227 points. “Louisiana Fast” has one win, five top five finishes and six top ten finishes in seven races driving the Sparks Motorsports Special.
Stockstill used his St, Tammany Raceway fourth-place finish on Saturday night to climb into the eighth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 224 points. Stockstill has one win, three top five finishes, and four top ten finishes in six races.
Tim Dees of Meridian, MS moved up one spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings into ninth after an eighth-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park. Dees has driven the Dees Motorsports GRT to one top five finish, three top ten finishes, and has earned 219 points in five races.
Jamey Boland of Cuba, AL has climbed into the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings driving the Boland Performance Trak-Star. The second-generation driver has 211 points after one top five finish and two top ten finishes in five races.
McDuffie and Daspit gave two-time champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL their ninth and tenth NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series wins of the 2013 season, and they remain the leader of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings.
Four-time and defending NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Champ GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR has the second spot in the standings with six wins. Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is third with five wins and Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is in the fourth spot with one win.
Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN, TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN, and CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN are also participating in the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge.
