The forecast of heavy rain has once again postponed this weekend’s $5,000-to-win third annual Rumble On The Gumbo 75 for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS. The race is now rescheduled for May 2-4.
The weather forecast for Greenville, MS is calling for an 80 percent chance of heavy thunderstorms estimated to drop an inch and a half of rain on the fresh black gumbo clay that has been put down at Greenville Speedway during the off-season. Since there has not been sufficient opportunity to work in the new clay, any additional rain would render the surface unraceable.
With several race teams scheduled to travel to Greenville, MS from as far away as central Florida, series and track officials felt it was in everyone’s best interest to postpone this weekend’s race and reschedule it for May 2-4. This is the second postponement of the Rumble On The Gumbo 75, which was originally scheduled to be run on April 11-13.
To help the track preparation for the rescheduled Rumble On The Gumbo 75, Greenville Speedway as scheduled an Open Practice Session for this Saturday afternoon at 12 Noon. Greenville Speedway has also scheduled their 2013 weekly racing season opener for Saturday night, April 27 that will feature the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Models.

Due to a scheduling conflict, The Ride For Life to benefit the local chapter of the American Cancer Society has been postponed until October 5 when the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division is scheduled to make its second appearance of the season at Greenville Speedway for the Gumbo Nationals.
