Reigning NASCAR Whelen All American Series National Champion Lee Pulliam of Semora, NC scored his third win in four starts here by capturing the Easter Bunny NASCAR Late Model 150 Saturday at South Boston Speedway in South Boston, VA.

The win didn’t come easy, however.

Pulliam and 2011 NASCAR Whelen All American Series National Champion Philip Morris of Ruckersville, VA locked horns in a tense side-by-side battle for the top spot just past the midway point of the race, speeding side-by-side around the .4-mile oval for the better part of 20 laps before Pulliam took the lead for good on the 98th circuit.

Once in front, Pulliam gradually pulled away, and with no caution flags to slow his pace over the final 50 laps, he sped to a 2.702-second win.

Bruce Anderson of South Boston, VA finished third in what was his best effort since the 2011 season with C.E. Falk of Virginia Beach, Va. and Dustin Storm of Huntingtown, MD rounding out the top five finishers.

Rookie Bobby McCarty of Summerfield, NC, finished sixth with Ronald Hill of Rougemont, NC, Matt McCall of Denver, NC, Austin Thaxton of Cluster Springs, VA and last year’s South Boston Speedway track champion Matt Bowling of Ridgeway, VA completing the top ten.

The race was a highly competitive one that saw the lead change hands four times between Pulliam and Morris. Morris raced his way from his seventh starting spot to battle for the lead. Falk started 14th in the field and came on strong in the second half of the race to grab fourth place from Storm with nine laps to go.

Pulliam averaged 64.736 mph in the 150-lap race that was slowed by two cautions.

Stallings Takes First Limited Sportsman Division Win

Blake Stallings of Danville, VA started on the pole and led every lap en route to winning the day’s caution-free 50-lap Limited Sportsman Division race.

The win was the first of the season for Stallings, who snapped a two-race win streak by Danny Willis Jr. of Cluster Springs, VA with the victory. Stallings edged Willis, the race runner-up, by 2.884 seconds.

Tommy Peregoy of Red Oak, VA, Garrett Bunch of Front Royal, VA and Caleb Davis of Thaxton, VA rounded out the top five finishers.

Stallings averaged 86.800 mph in the race that took only 13 minutes and 49 seconds to complete.

Nathan Crews Takes Pure Stock Division Win

Nathan Crews of Long Island, VA scored his first win of the season with a flag-to-flag victory in the 30-lap Budweiser Pure Stock Division race.

The victory by Crews, which came by a 1.744-second margin over runner-up Joe Allred III of Scottsburg, VA snapped a two-race win streak by Allred.

Last year’s division champion, Trey Crews of Halifax, VA, finished third with Randy Hupp of Halifax, VA and Stuart Crews of Long Island, VA rounding out the top five finishers.

Blair Wins Legendary Ford Flatheads Race

Bill Blair of Thomasville, NC took the lead on the first lap and won the 20-lap race for the competitors of the Legendary Ford Flatheads Racing Association.

Blair edged Garland Ricketts of South Boston, VA for the win.

Don Cook of Mebane, NC finished sixth overall in the race, but was the top finisher in the Sportsman Division ranks.
