The Deep South has become Bubba Pollard’s racing playground over the last few seasons. The Senoia, GA driver has won some of the most prestigious Late Model races and championships in the region. In 2013, the former champion in the Sunoco Gulf Coast Series, Blizzard Series, Miller Lite Series, CRA Southern Series and more will look to add another title to his decorated resume – the inaugural Southern Super Series championship.
The 16-race series spans five tracks and four states that Pollard has had numerous wins at over his career. Previous wins at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL, Mobile International Speedway in Irvington, AL, Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, GA, and Montgomery Motor Speedway in Montgomery, AL – all stops on the inaugural Southern Super Series schedule – have Pollard excited about his title chances in 2013.
“It is cool to see all these tracks come together and work together to put this type of tour together,” said Pollard. “It gives us racers a place to race, and has been needed in the South for quite a while. I am excited about the year, and hopefully we are the inaugural Southern Super Series Champion when it is all said and done.”
The Deep South has been without a traveling Super Late Model tour for some time, but Pollard does have experience in a points-paying series. The 26-year-old Georgia hot shoe ran and won races on the Southern All Stars Tour and Georgia Asphalt Tour, as well as the Sunoco Gulf Coast Championship between Five Flags and Mobile, while climbing the ranks of Late Model racing.
“I think it will be good for the Southeast to have a series like the Southern Super Series come in,” said Pollard. “It’s fun to travel around to all the different race tracks and race against some of the same guys, but also meet some new folks along the way. The fans will get an exciting race every time out.”

Despite wins across the Deep South in his career, Pollard admittedly has never run that often at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville. The Southern Super Series will bookend its inaugural season at the historic Tennessee .0596-mile track. The opening round of the season will roll off at Nashville on April 6, and the All-American 400 will close out the season in November.
“We haven’t run quite as much at Nashville as the other places on the tour,” said Pollard. “We had a good run going up there at the All-American last year before some late-race craziness. It is a track that just oozes history and will be a great stop on the Southern Super Series.”
The series has drawn excitement across the Deep South and car counts are expected to be high at each and every event.
“Hopefully we can draw a lot of cars at tall the racetracks,” said Pollard. “Nashville has a lot of local guys that like to run that track, but I am hoping that we can have big, competitive fields week in and week out because that’s what the drivers, tracks and fans want to see.”
The opening race for the 2013 Southern Super Series will come at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville in Tennessee on Saturday, April 6. Entry forms and further information for this event and others on the 16-race inaugural Southern Super Series schedule can be found on www.southernsuperseries.com.
