Kyle Benjamin came into the final night of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, FL Saturday night looking for his fourth Super Late Model win in a row.

But Travis Cope had other ideas.

Cope restarted with the lead with two laps to go, but spun his tires, opening the door for Benjamin to return to victory lane.  The two fought side by side over the final two laps, with Cope coming away with the final night feature victory.

Cope started his night off from the fifth place starting spot, while Stephen Wallace and Jake Griffin led the field to green.  Wallace would move out to the early lead, with Griffin in second and Cope moving his way to third.  Cope would move into second on lap 15, and set his sights on the leader.  On lap 22, Cope would make his was around Wallace for the top spot, while Griffin moved to second.

The caution came out on lap 31 when Dawsonville, GA’s Spencer Davis came to a stop in turn four.

On the restart, Cope would retain the lead, with Benjamin moving into the runner up spot. The two would hold those positions over the next 36 laps, until Benjamin began to challenge for the top spot.  He finally made the move stick on lap 71.  Two laps later, it was Cope retaking the lead, with Benjamin slipping back to second and Stephen Nasse moving to third.

A spin by Nasse with two laps to go set up the final restart, with Cope edging out the victory.  Benjamin would finish second, with Bubba Pollard in third, Dylan Kwasniewski in fourth and Wallace in fifth.

In other action, Brad May edged out Alex Guennette to score the victory in the Pro Late Model feature.  Joey Mucciacciaro finished in third, with Brandon Johnson in fourth, and Spencer Davis in fifth.

Chuck Hossfield scored the win in the Tour-Type Modified feature.  Woody Pitkat finished second, with Andy Seuss in third, Patrick Emerling in fourth, and Jimmy Zacharias in fifth.

In Pro Trucks action, Jessica Murphy came home with the win in the 75-lap feature.  Scott Reeves finished in second, with Nick Hernandez, Tim Sozio, and Matt Odwazny rounding out the top five.

Action returns to New Smyrna Speedway on March 23 with the Florida Cracker 200 and the Bright House Challenge 200.  Visit newsmyrnaspeedway.org for more information.
