Devin McLeod jumped out front early in Saturday night’s Super Late Model feature at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, FL on the night two of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.
McLeod would have to hold off a challenge from Stephen Wallace to score the victory.
McLeod would roll off from the top spot, with Wallace along side. McLeod would take the lead on the opening lap, while David Rogers worked his way to third.
The first caution of the night flew when Gary Passer went around in the second turn. McLeod jumped back out front on the restart, with Wallace giving chase. Meanwhile, Dawsonville, GA’s Spencer Davis moved into the top five.
Davis would work his way to third with five laps remaining in the 35 lap feature. Up front, it was McLeod moving away for the win. Wallace finished second, with David third, Ryan Moore in fourth and Joey Coulter in fifth.
In Pro Late Model action, Brandon Johnson had the lead with two laps to go, but a tangle with a lap car handed the lead on the final lap to 15-year-old Joey Mucciacciaro, who went on to pick up the win.
George Hagy jumped out to an early lead, with Steve Laking moving to second. Johnson would power his way to second on the outside as the field reached lap five, as the first caution came out for a spin in turn two.
Johnson would move to the top spot on the restart, while Mucciacciaro pulled his way up to third. A multi-car crash on lap 16 would slow the action again. Johnson would retain the lead on the restart, with Nathan Russell moving to second and Mucciacciaro in third.
Mucciacciaro would move to second with 10 laps left in the 35 lap feature. He would continue to trail Johnson until the final lap, when Mucciacciaro took advantage of Johnson’s misfortune to score the win, with Brad May in second.
Nathan Russell was flagged in third, but failed post race tech on a weight issue. That moved Cody Coughlin to third, with Johnson recovering for fourth, and Noel Dowler in fifth.
In Florida Modifieds action, Tank Tucker topped the field for the win. Josh Todd came home second, with D.J. Hoelzle in third, Tim Moore in fourth, and John Sarppraicone, Jr. in fifth.
Chuck Hossfeld scored the Tour-Type Modified feature win. Matt Hirschman finished second, with Patrick Emerling, Woody Pitkat, and Ted Christopher rounding out the top five.
