Keith Nosbisch Makes It A Three In A Row At East Bay

Keith Nosbisch has had a lock on Late Model victory lane at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL as of late, as he scored his third straight feature victory Saturday night at the famed “Clay by the Bay.”

Hayden Campbell, Jeff Mathews and Dave Schmauss won their heat races. So for the feature it was Schmauss and Mathews, two former Champions on the front row. When the green waved it was Mathews taking the early lead with Schmauss right behind him.

On lap three, the first caution waved when Hamp Conley backed into the wall.  He was able to continue on. Then on lap seven, Conley spun once again, this time in turn four, almost collecting the leaders Mathews and Nosbisch who had moved into second.

The green waved again as the field went into turn one with Nosbisch right on the back bumper of Mathews. Nosbisch took over the lead on lap nine and never looked back until caution waved with just two laps left. Mathews was second and Schmauss was holding onto third. When the checkered waved it was Keith Nosbisch making it three wins a row for the Late Models.

“We came in the beginning of the year and ran this car once as it was a new car and won that night and now we have made it four wins for four starts for the car here” Keith stated in victory lane. Schmauss went on to finish second with Mathews third, Mavrick Varnadore and Roger Crouse rounding out the top five.

In other action, the first feature of the night went to Street Stocks. Jarod Gay, Eric Moon and Dennis Wilson, Jr. won their heat races. For the feature it was Wilson, Jr. and Moon making up the front row.  Moon led the initial green flag, but on the next lap Thomas Burnside would spin on the front stretch and everyone was able to avoid him. Caution came out once again on lap four as Donnie Reed slowed down in turn two. Several more cautions came out but was to no avail as Eric Moon went on to pick up his six feature win of the season extending his lead over Donnie Reed. Gay, Wilson, Jr., Dorsey Strickland and Burside after that spin on the first lap came back to finish in the fifth position.

Next up were the East Bay Sprints. Danny Martin, Jr. and Sport Allen won their heats and also made up the front row for the feature. On the drop of the green, Martin, Jr. took to the high side and led the field with Sport Allen right behind him. But on the start it was Kyle Pitts hitting the wall and making for a complete restart. Martin, Jr. once again took to the high side and led the field with Allen once again in tow.  On lap four, driving a brand new car, Allen went up in smoke coming out of turn two and ending his night. Martin, Jr. led the entire race never looking back and picking up another feature win for the 2012 Season. Billy Boyd, Jr., Kerry Gilbert, Tony Agin and Robbie Smith rounded out the top five.

The final feature event went to the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers. John Moore, Robert Kissam and Gene Gross won their heat races. For the front row it was defending Champion Troy Dittebrand and William Burnside. Burnside led the first six laps until the first caution came out as Patrick Tabb spun on the front stretch and getting hit in the rear ending his night. On the restart, Burnside led once again, but it was Robert Kissam taking over the lead on lap nine and going on to make it three wins in a row as well. Dittebrand, Burnside, Moore and Richard Humfeld rounded out the top five.
