There is a new point leader of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series after Week 15 competition. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS finished fourth on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star to earn 47 points, plus 25 Bonus Points to bring his leading total up to 775 points.
Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA took his 17th win of the season on Saturday night with a 50-point victory at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS driving the J. Dunning Sandblasting and Painting Special. Trosclair netted ten points and is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 764 points.
Trosclair was the first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitor to reach the 14-week mark, and began netting points during Week 15 competition. Trosclair’s lowest weekly point total among his 14 week total was a 40, which he replaced with his Week 15 50 point win to net ten points. Trosclair still has three more 40s in his 14-week highest weekly point totals.
Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS finished outside the top ten on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in the Custom Spraying GRT and earned 41 points in his 14th week of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition. Barrett is third in the hunt for the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS $10,000 championship with 755 points and will now be looking to net on two 41s.
Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS also finished outside the top ten on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in his 14th and final week to earn full NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series points driving the Henderson Waste and Recycling Trak-Star. Jordan is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS standings with 730 points, and will be looking to net on four 41s.
Ryan King of Seymour, TN drove the Brian King Roofing Stinger to a second-place finish on Monday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN to bring his season total to 718 points and the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series points chase. King still has one more week to earn full points.
Daniel Bridgeman of Meridian, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 687 points. Bridgeman drove the Robinson Electric Rocket to a ninth-place finish on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway and still has one more week to earn full points.
Chase Washington of Houlka, MS finished second on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in the Jerry Inmon Racing Special, and is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 681 points. Washington can still earn full points for two more weeks, and he has the third-highest Weekly Point Average (WPA) among the top 20 drivers in the standings.
Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL is a driver to watch over the next few weeks, as even though he is currently eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 644 points, he has the highest WPA among the top 20 drivers in the standings at 49.45, with 50 being a perfect score.
Shaw can still earn full points for another three weeks. Shaw finished third on Saturday night at The Mag in the Summit Resource Development Trak-Star. Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 637 points in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star, and can earn full points for one more week before hitting the 14-week mark.
Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 625 points. Arnold finished second on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway driving the Billy Riels Racing/Reynolds Motorsports GRT. Arnold can still earn full points for another two weeks.
In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 15 action, the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS and Adam Beeler of Knoxville, TN were two-time winners in a long week of competition.
Stokes started his NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 15 competition off on Tuesday night by driving the Bassett Hound Motorsports GRT to his first win of the season at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS. The second win of the week for Stokes came on Saturday night when he topped a 37-car field and collected the $1,000 top prize at Magnolia Motor Speedway.
Beeler opened NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 15 competition with a win on Monday night at 411 Motor Speedway driving the CVR Race Cars Special. The second win of the week for Beeler came on Saturday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN.
Robby Moore of Brosley, MO picked up his third NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Friday night at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO driving the D&K Truck Repair Special. Tony Gray of Coker, AL was a first time winner on Friday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway driving the Gray Motorsports Special.
T.J. Hays of Bradford, TN was another first-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series winner on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports driving the Black Belt Academy Special. Roger Witt of Batesville, AR took his seventh win of the season on Saturday night at West Plains Motor Speedway driving The Chrome Shop Special.
Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL drove the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT to his fifth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Friday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series action at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS was rained out.
Two-time Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL continues to lead the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge with 21 wins after Week 15 competition, but the second-place manufacturer is closing in.
Defending and four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is second, and has closed to within two wins of the point leader. GRT Race Cars now has 19 wins after two Week 15 wins by Stokes and a win from Gauldin.
Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN remains in the third spot with five wins and Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is fourth with four wins. Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fifth with three wins and TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is still looking for their first win of the season.
