Randy Porter made his second trip to victory lane in 2012 in Friday night’s Late Model feature at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, SC.
Justin Sorrow took the lead as soon as the green flag dropped on the fifty lap race and held the position until lap five when his car drifted high, which allowed Porter to drive under him and take the lead. Porter would hold the top spot for the remainder of the event.
Although Porter led the final forty five laps of the race, the victory did not come easily. Neil Meredith, the fast qualifier with a time of 15.182 seconds, put the pressure to Porter for several laps before he getting a run under the leader on lap twenty eight. The two made contact, and Meredith hit the wall, ending his night.
Following Meredith’s demise, Ralph Carnes moved to second. He pressed Porter several times, but failed to make a serious bid for the lead. Carnes would finish second. R.A. Brown finished third. Justin Sorrow finished fourth. Justin Southerlin finished fifth.
In other action, Ricky Burnett topped the field in the Renegade feature. Burnett made his debut appearance for the 2012 season and went home with the winner’s trophy in hand. He took the lead as soon as the green flag dropped on the race and was never challenged for the lead throughout the race. Blake Gregory finished second. Jack Robertson finished third. Kyle Ballew finished fourth. Jim Fitzgerald finished fifth.

David Darnell took the lead on lap five of the B Mini Stock feature, and went on to score the win. Chad Campbell led the first five laps of the race before he was passed by Darnell. The two ran side by side for several laps before Darnell nailed down the lead position. Campbell finished second, with Chuck Mitchell third, Dylan Hall fourth, and Jeff Turner finished fifth.
Dylan Hall came away with the win in the C Mini Stock feature. Ryan Howard took the lead at the start of the race and led the first five laps of the race before he relinquished the top spot to Hall. Hall led until the final turn of the final lap when Howard drove under him and out ran Hall to the finish line to receive the checkered flag. Hall crossed the finish line in the second position. Following the race, Howard failed post race inspection, and the victory was awarded to Hall. Brandon Segars finished second. Zach Dillon finished third. Jim Skinner finished fourth.
Chris Harvell was the winner in the Front Wheel Drive feature. Bradley Williams led the first seven laps of the race before he slipped up, allowing Harvell to move under him and take the lead. Williams pressed Harvell a couple of times before the race ended but failed to regain the lead position. During the final few laps of the race, Williams had his hands full holding off Kenneth Bearden for the second position. The victory was the second in a row for Harvell. Williams finished second. Bearden finished third. B.J. Davis finished fourth. Travis Barbare finished fifth.
