East Bay Raceway Park Off To A Strong Start In 2012

The racing action is already rolling at the “Clay by the Bay.”  The 1/3-mile clay oval ASA Member Track located in Gibsonton, FL, just east of Tampa, is about ready to enter their third month of racing in 2012.

“We had a real good 36th Annual Winternationals,” Al Varnadore, East Bay Raceway Park President said.  “We had great weather throughout the month of February and got every one of our 15 shows in this year.  Only one show was delayed by two hours because of the weather.”

Varnadore, along with his partner Todd Hutto, didn’t have much down time after the final Winternationals event on February 25.  A week later on March 3, they were starting with their 2012 regular season.  From that date until December 15, East Bay Raceway Park will host the best dirt track racing in the Tampa/Clearwater area.

East Bay hosts a variety of divisions throughout the 2012 season.  On any Saturday night, fans can watch their Late Models, East Bay Sprints, Street Stocks, Open Wheel Modifieds, Limited Late Models, Outlaw 4’s, 4 Cylinder Bombers, and Dirt Daubers race around the semi-banked clay oval.

Local stars include Buzzie Reutimann, father of Sprint Cup driver David Reutimann, who competes in the Open Wheel Modified division.  The Late Models feature the talents of Roger Crouse, Phillip Cobb, Travis Varnadore and more.
