ARCA-Mobile 200 testing concluded earlier this week at Mobile International Speedway in Irvington, AL with five entries from Venturini Motorsports.
Ryan Reed, Brennan Poole, Nelson Canache, Erik Jones, and Clint King all turned their first ARCA Racing Series laps around at the track known as Alabama’s Fastest Half Mile.
“I think the cars were really good,” team owner Billy Venturini said. “We didn’t see the drop off in times like I think most teams will. We had a couple of cars that had a lot of initial speed. So I feel like we’ll have three or four real good shots at getting the pole.”
One of the cars are driven by 21-year old Brennan Poole, who made headlines last season by winning in his ARCA debut at Salem Speedway by defeating eventual Series champion, Ty Dillon. Poole’s machine will carry primary sponsorship from American Idol’s and ARCA-Mobile 200 National anthem singer Jaclyn North. With Dillon moving, Poole is being viewed as the early championship favorite.
“We’re just hoping to get a feel for the track as best we can,” Poole said. “Mobile has real fast turns and we’re hoping to get it rolling in the center.”

Poole received a good bit of advice from 18-year old teammate, Ryan Reed. Reed competed in several Miller Lite Super Late Model races at Mobile last season with a best finish of sixth on June 26. While the cars appear similar, Reed explained that there’s a lot to be learned with the much faster ARCA machines.
“More horsepower translates to more lift in the corners,” Reed said. “That said, things like your entry points carry over and I’m excited to come back here next week. I love this place. I love the facility and I love the atmosphere. The fans are always here.”
Reed credits Mobile Super Late Model champion Bubba Pollard for his quick mastery of the speedway. He’s expecting to follow Pollard in practice to get a feel for Mobile Speedway in ARCA trim. Pollard will attempt to make the ARCA-Mobile 200 in a former James Finch Phoenix Racing machine.
The Mobile ARCA 200 will take place Saturday, March 9 and 10. The race is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Mobile will host practice and qualifying on Friday, March 9.
