NASCAR Sprint Cup veteran driver Ken Schrader dominated the K&N Filters USCS Modified Touring Series portion of the Frostbuster 250 at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS on Saturday night.

Schrader, who brought his own Federated Auto Parts #9 open wheel modified ride to “The Mag”, took charge early by setting fast time in qualifying, then winning his heat race. This placed him on the pole for the start of the 25-lap main event.

The veteran of not only super speedway pavement wars but also of a successful career of dirt track contests, took advantage of his starting position and led every lap of the Modified final to land in victory lane.

Top gun K&N Filters USCS Modified Series driver, Chris Moore from Nesbit, MS, and Ben Stephens from Hattiesburg, MS chased Schrader around the 4/10 mile clay oval lap after lap but could not pass the veteran Modified hot-shoe. There were several restarts after caution flag periods over the distance that pulled them up to Schrader’s rear bumper only to see him race away to a comfortable margin each time and he held an eight car advantage at the finish.

Ben Stephens won the battle for the runner-up spot with Chris Moore collecting the third place honors. Rusty Duncan from Tuscaloosa, AL, finished in the fourth position and Brandon Poppenheimer from Nesbit, MS rounded out the top five finishers.

Jimmy Cornell, who towed all the way from Broseley, Missouri to “The Mag” to race, led the next group of racers to the finish line in sixth place. He was followed by Robert Casada from Hattiesburg, MS, who finished seventh. Ben Reed from Munford, TN finished in eighth place He was followed by Randy King from Hattiesburg, MI in ninth place. Michael Turner from Paris, TN rounded out the top ten.

Schrader had the fastest time of the evening around the high-banked 4/10 mile “Black Ice” oval with a lap of 16.643, and went on to win the first heat race.  Moore won the second heat, while Reed rolled to victory in the third heat.
