Next up was the final race for the Team USA Mod Lites as they were set to run their 25 Lap A-Main event. Two time feature winner Jimmy Wills and Doug Williams made up the front row. Wills again showed his muscle as he walked away from Williams until the first caution came out on lap seven as several cars tangled in turn two.
On the restart, it was Brandon Dennis who drove by Wills and Williams to take the lead. Caution came out on lap fourteen as Jason Musser almost flipped but was able to continue.
On the restart on lap fourteen, Wills and Dennis tangled in front of the entire field in turn two. Fortunately, everyone was able to miss them. That put both drivers at the rear of the field, handing over the lead to Williams.
The caution flag flew again on lap sixteen as fifth place runner Johnny Mordock spun in turn four.
On the final restart, Williams led the field for the remaining nine laps as he went on to win his first career Winternationals. Second went to Kevin McKinney with Josh May, Jeffery Teeters and Jimmy Wills finishing in the fifth position.
Williams was emotional in victory lane, where he told the crowd that he had lost his Dad back in December and this win was for him.
The final event of the night belonged to the 75 Lap A-Main for the UMP/EBRP Open Wheel Modifieds with Rodney Wing bringing the field to the green flag. Dixon would lead the field on lap one with Wing right giving chase.
The first caution came out on lap four as Nick Allen’s right front suspension broke, sending him to the pits.
The green flag flew again on lap four, as Dixon once again showed the way over Wing, Hartman, Wallace and Adams. On lap seven Hartman passed Wing for the second spot, and gave went after the leader. Before the caution came out on lap 17, Dixon had a 2.041 second advantage over Hartman.
The green flag waved once again on lap 17 with Dixon retaining the lead. He would stay there until lap 26, when Colin Thirlby cut a right rear tire, bringing out the caution.
Racing resumed moments later. On lap 30, Wayne Hammond appeared to have mechanical issues. As he tried to maneuver out of the field’s way, he and ended up collecting Shane Cottle, Buzzie Reutimann, Jeff Mathews and Kyle Bronson. All cars were able to continue.
The field restarted on lap 30, with Dixon, Hartman, Adams, Wallace and Brad DeYoung holding down the top five. The yellow flag flew again on lap 40 for a competition caution, as the entire field stopped single file in turn two, allowing crews to put fuel in the cars and add tear offs if they chose to. Drivers were also allowed to head to the pits and change tires, but would have to go to the rear of the field. Several drivers elected to go to the pits, including Kevin Adams, Kenny Wallace and Brad DeYoung.
On the restart, Dixon held the lead, with Hartman second. Shane Cottle, Jeff Mathews, Rodney Wing, Vic Vena, Kenny Carmichael, Preston Seratt, Kyle Bronson and Kenny Wallace rounding out the top ten.
With fresh tires, Wallace would charge all the way to fifth when the caution waved on lap 48 for a spin by Carmichael.
The final caution came out with just 15 laps to go, as Kyle Bronson slowed on the backstretch and headed out the turn one gate.
On the lap 60 restart, Dixon once again headed into turn one leading the field. But seven laps later, Kenny Adams made a hard charge, taking the top spot off the second turn.
But Dixon was not to be denied this night. With three laps to go, Dixon and Adams would go three wide with a lap car, with Dixon coming away with the lead once again. Despite another hard charge by Adams, Dixon held on to capture his second Winternationals championship. Adams crossed the line second with Hartman, Cottle and Wallace rounding out your top five.
“I had to pace myself because I knew that some of the drivers were going to change tires during that fuel stop,” Dixon said in victory lane.

The first caution came out before lap one could be completed, as Landis Musser hit the wall in turn four. Musser was okay but his car was unable to continue.
Wills charged on the high side around to take the lead coming out of turn two on the restart when Jason Musser lost a wheel on the back stretch bringing out the caution on lap one.
The green flag waved again, and by lap four, Wills had almost a half straight away over Dennis with Josh May in third. On lap seven, Dennis appeared to have problems and would fall out of the race.
The third and final caution came out on lap ten when Darin Gallagher spun in turn four. The green flag waved for the final time as Wills took command of the race. Despite a smoking car, Willis would score his second win in a row, with Ken Meadows, Josh May, Jeffery Teeters and Cody Bova rounded out the top five.
“I guess we got to take it back to the pits and figure out what is wrong and get it ready for the final race tonight,” Willis said in victory lane.
The final event for the Friday night make up show was the UMP/EBRP Open Wheel Modifieds, with Bart Hartman and Kenny Wallace bringing the field to the green flag. Wallace took the lead on the back stretch and was in control of the field. Wallace would continue to lead until the first caution flew on lap 20, when Dale Kelley slowed on the track.
