Bubba Pollard Wins Race, Title At Mobile

It was a heck of a weekend for Bubba Pollard.

One day after winning his 15th Late Model event of the season with a victory at 5 Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Pollard added win number 16 to his tally by taking the checkered flag at Mobile International Speedway in Alabama.

The win also solidified Pollard as the Sunoco Gulf Coast champion for 2011.

Pollard survived a number of late race cautions, including one that took out contender Augie Grill.

The Senoia, Georgia driver inherited the top spot on lap 57 when leader Mike Garvey was caught up in an accident triggered when two lap cars tangled in the third turn.

He would lose the lead briefly on a restart, then put his Atlanta Thrifty Nickle Chevy back out front on lap 58.

Pollard would stay on point the rest of the way to score the victory.  Jeff Choquette, Allen Karnes, Josh Bragg and Donnie Wilson rounded out the unofficial top five.
