Tim Crawley was the man to beat in USCS Sprint Car competition over the weekend, as he scored back-to-back feature wins at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia and at Crossville Raceway in Crossville, Tennessee.

On Friday, Sept. 2, the Benton, Arkansas native blasted from his third place starting position into the lead exiting turn four on lap one and led the balance of the thirty-laps in the USCS Sprint Car Mania IV main event at Boyd’s Speedway, capturing his eighth USCS main event of the 2011 season.

Crawley passed K&N Filters Pole Position starter Justin Carver from Drummonds, Tennessee and Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee on the initial lap, but had to hold off a hard-charging, Brian Bell from Cordova, Tennessee who was the high points driver after winning the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Bell drew a four in the K&N Filters Pole Award drawing and started the main event outside the second row next to Crawley.

Bell passed Turpen on lap one as well and Carver on lap two, and then chased Crawley the rest of the distance to finish in the runner-up spot. Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee started sixth and battle his way into the top five by lap five. He then passed Turpen on lap six for the fourth position. He moved past Carver on lap eight to place himself in the K&N Filters third position.

The race finished with Crawley in victory lane, Bell in the runner-up position followed by Nicholson, Carver and eighteen year-old Turpen.

Defending series Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee led the next group in sixth place. Matt Linder from Hoschton, Georgia followed in seventh place. Current USCS Rookie of the Year point’s leader, Jordon Mallett from Greenbrier, Arkansas finished in eighth place. The evening’s Goodyear Speed Dash Winner, sixteen year-old Eric Riggins, Jr. from Charlotte, North Carolina followed in ninth place and Lee Sowell from Nesbit, Mississippi rounded out the top ten drivers.

Riggins, Jr., kicked off the evening’s USCS action with a win in the 6-lap Goodyear Speed Dash. Bell grabbed the win in the First Heat Race.  Crawley got the victory in the Second Heat Race. Turpen won the Third Heat. Nick DeFeo from Marietta, Georgia started 22nd and passed the most cars in the main event to earn the Wilwood Engineering Hard Charger Award. Jordon Mallett garnered the Goodyear, Rookie of Race honors. Anthony Nicholson earned the JE Pistons Top guns Award for his third place finish in the main event.

One night later, it was again Crawley showing the field his tailpipes as he exploded from the K&N Filters Pole Position into the lead in turn one on lap one and wired the field for thirty-laps in the “Speed Xplosion” 2011 main event at Crossville Raceway on Saturday night to make his second trip to the USCS www.RockAuto.com victory lane of the weekend.

Crawley was awarded the K&N Filters Pole Position starting position after Engler Machine and Tool First Heat winner, Jerrod Hull from Sikeston, Missouri drew a six in the K&N Filters Pole Award drawing. This inverted hard working 2011 Rookie of the Year points leader, Jordon Mallet from Green brier, Arkansas from who collected the most “passing” points in the heat races to sixth place and placed Crawley on the K&N Filters Pole. The inversion also placed Lance Moss from Cherryville, North Carolina outside the front row with Crawley. Behind them were Second Heat winner Anthony Nicholson and defending series Champion, Terry Gray. Hull joined Mallett in the third row in the fifth starting position.

On the start Crawley leaped past Moss into the lead in turn one. Nicholson grabbed the runner-up spot on the first circuit. Gray passed Nicholson on lap two for the second position while Hull moved into the third position on lap three. On lap eleven Hull got around Gray and took up the chase for Crawley.

The race continued green for seventeen laps until Jerod Rollers cut down left rear tire brought out the caution. The running order on lap twenty-one was Crawley, Hull, Gray, ninth place starter Justin Carver from Drummonds, Tennessee and Nicholson.

When the green flag displayed for the final nine laps, Crawley raced away while Carver passed Gray for third place on lap twenty-three, then picked off the runner-up spot from Hull on lap twenty nine to race home to the finish line behind Crawley in second place. Hull, who is a tight point’s battle with Gray for the USCS Mid South title, finished in third place with Gray in fourth position coming under the checkers. Nicholson rounded out the top five drivers.

Morgan Turpen lead the rest of the field in sixth place. Matt Linder finished seventh. Brian Bell finished in the eighth position followed by Lee Sowell from Nesbit, Mississippi. Eric Riggins, Jr. rounded out the top ten drivers.

Since the event awarded both USCS presented by Goodyear Mid South regional series and USCS Southern Thunder presented by Goodyear regional series Championship points, two separate Goodyear Speed Dashes were held. Crawley won the 6-cars, 6-laps Southern Thunder dash while Gray won the USCS Mid South Thunder Goodyear Speed Dash. Both events were comprised of the top six cars from the previous USCS main event in their regions.

The 10-cars, 10-laps First Heat was won by Hull. Nicholson scored the victory in the 10-cars,10-laps Second Heat Race. Justin Carver passed the most cars in the main event to earn the Wilwood Engineering Hard Charger Award. Jordon Mallett garnered the Goodyear, Rookie of Race honors. Gray earned the JE Pistons Top guns Award for his fourth place finish in the main event. Crawley was the recipient of the K&N Filters $100 Pole Award.

The next United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear winged sprint car event is the third annual Razorback Rumble on Friday, September 16 at Beebe Speedway in Beebe, Arkansas.

The series will compete on the following night, Saturday, September 17 in the Missouri State Championship Races 2011 at Malden Speedway in Malden, Missouri.
