Casey Tucker doubled up Friday night, as he scored the wins in both Special Twin 12 lap races held for the B-M Modified division at the Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, SC.
Tucker began his dominance by being the fastest qualifier with a time of 17.041 seconds, picking up the JW Mechanical pole award along with a crisp $100 bill.
In the first race, which ran caution free, Tucker led wire-to-wire on his way to the victory. Following Tucker was Alan Mitchell, who came home second. Will Ragsdale failed to qualify due to mechanical problems and had to start on the rear but managed to finish third. Robert Marshall finished fourth. Tim Stokes finished fifth.
In the second race, Tucker had to work much harder in order to take the victory. He grabbed the lead at the start of the race and held the top position the first four laps. On lap five Tucker lost the lead to Chuck Mitchell. Mitchell would stay out front until lap eight when Tucker regained the top spot.
Mitchell ran with Tucker and appeared to have a shot at the victory when a caution came out on lap ten. When the race restarted Mitchell jumped the start and that put him to the rear of the field. Tucker grabbed the lead following the incident and led the final two laps, scoring his second victory on the night and his third overall of the season. Bryce Malcolm finished second. Robert Marshall finished third. Austin Northcutt finished fourth. Tim Stokes finished fifth.
Chad Campbell picked up the victory in B-Mini Stock feature. David Darnell grabbed the lead at the start of the race, with Campbell dropping into the second position.
While Campbell was struggling to keep pace with Darnell, B.J. Thrasher was making his move to the front. Thrasher had to start on the rear because he failed to pull down following his previous race. On lap five, Thrasher moved to the second position and on lap twelve he took over the top spot.
On lap fifteen Campbell moved by Darnell for the second position. On lap sixteen Darnell’s car broke, bringint out the yellow flag. On the restart, Thrasher took the lead but Campbell was able to stay with him. The two battled the next two laps before Campbell was able to slide past for the top position. Campbell led the final lap and took the victory. Thrasher finished second, with Mark Timmerman third, Ryan Lockwood fourth and Ben Kay in fifth.
Russell Powell recovered from a spin to snag the C-Mini Stock feature win. Powell took the top spot five laps into the feature, with Dylan Hall in hot pursuit. Hall began to close on Powell but it appeared that the laps would run out before he caught the leader.
A caution flag would change that, bunching up the field for the restart. On the restart, Powell got the jump and led down the back stretch. As the two entered turn three there was contact and Powell spun. When the race restarted Brandon Segars jumped to the front with Hall dropping into second. Once again there was contact and this time Segars spun.
On the final restart Hall jumped to the lead with Powell immediately taking over second. The two ran nose to tail and on the final lap in turn four there was contact and this time Hall spun. Powell received the checkered flag and picked up his sixth victory of the season. Ryan Howard finished second. Brandon Segars, Elizabeth Lockwood and Hall founded out the top five.
Barry Tollison Sr. scored the win in the Super Renegade feature. Tollison Sr. led every lap of the race and easily out paced the remainder of the field. Barry Tollison Jr. finished second. Phillip Peters finished third. Andrew Cordell finished fourth. Eddie Henderson finished fifth. The victory allowed Barry Sr. to tie his son Barry Jr. for the points lead in the division.
Ricky Burnett came away with the win in the Talking Phonebook Renegade feature. Chad Watt and Shawn Campbell battled for the first lap before Watt finally took the lead. He would hold the top spot until lap four when Burnett slid past for the lead, with Alex Guthrie in pursuit. Burnett would go unchallenged for the rest of the event, scoring the victory, his fifth straight and tenth overall for 2011. Guthrie ran second, with Campbell third, Watt fourth and Blake Gregory fifth.
Sean Rayhall got the win in the 600 Legends feature. Rayhall was the fastest qualifier with a time of 17.002 seconds but he had to start fourth following the roll of the dice which determined how many cars would be inverted. Zac Kittle and Kyle Beattie battled the first lap before Kittle took the lead. Rayhall moved to second on lap four and took over the lead on lap eight. Kittle ran with Rayhall for the next four laps but soon fell off the leader’s pace. Rayhall eventually pulled to a seven car length advantage and held it the remainder of the race. Kittle finished second. Taylor Hull finished third. Chris Dolbeck finished fourth. Beattie finished fifth.
In the Front Wheel Drive feature, Tommy Davis claimed the win. Tim Ervin and Justin Cone battled the first lap with Cone taking the lead. But Cone’s time at the front was short lived when he was passed by Davis on lap two. Davis pulled to a six car length advantage and held it until lap 12, when Michael Staton began to close. Staton cut the deficit in half but that was as close as he would get, as Davis went on to win. Staton finished second, with Cone third, Ervin fourth and Donnie Pardue fifth.
Will Fagan scored the victory in the Georgia Mini Cup feature. Fagan was the fastest qualifier with a lap time of 19.300 seconds. Mason Elzey and Fagan battled the first lap with Elzy coming away with the lead. The two ran together over the next couple of laps, until with Fagan made his move on lap four. Once Fagan took the lead he stretched his advantage more and more each lap and went on to take the victory with ease. Elzy finished second, with Blake Gaither and Brody Bullard rounding out the top four.
Anderson Motor Speedway is off next weekend, but returns to action with a very special race on Friday, Sept. 9, as AMS hosts the second annual Rupert Porter Memorial Shrine Race, presented by the Anderson Jockey Lot, featuring a 100 lap Late Model event plus regular racing in all AMS divisions.
