Racing Excitement On Tap For Fourth Of July Weekend

While several series and tracks across the nation and close to home are taking the Independence Day holiday off, there’s still a lot of hot racing action for you to catch.  Here’s a look at some of the on-track events coming your way this weekend:

New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA, will hold a front wheel drive Demolition Derby, along with racing in the Late Model, Crate Late Models, the B-Cadets, Hobby Stocks and Mini-Stocks on Saturday, July 2.  Also on tap is a big fireworks show and free American flags for the kids.  For more information, check out their website.

Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, GA, returns to action on Saturday, July 2, with racing in all divisions plus a large fireworks show.  For more information, visit www.lanierspeedway.com.

Hartwell Speedway near Hartwell, GA, will return to action on Saturday, July 2 with a full slate of racing action on double points night, featuring bicycle racing.  For more info, check their website at www.hartwell-speedway.com.

Atlanta Dragway will play host to the inaugural American Patriot race today (Friday), July 1 and Saturday, July 2.  For more information, check their website.

Talladega Short Track in Talladega, AL will be busy again on Saturday Night, July 2, when the speedway  plays host to the “Stars and Stripes 400”, a 400-Lap Enduro Race plus racing in the Hot Shots and Street Stocks.  Racing is scheduled to begin at 7 pm.  For more info, check their website.

Independence Day Weekend will be another busy one for the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series, as Week 14 will see 14 events over four days in five different states.  There will be five events, including two NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring events, in the Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region, and nine events in the West Region.  For more information and to find the NeSmith Chevy event nearest you, check here.

-After a rainout last week, Friday Night Drags and MCR Safety Show-N-Shine returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway tonight (Friday, July 1) with double points on the line.  Mid-season points championships will take place on July 8, making this week’s racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway a must-see event. Plus, this week’s special MCR Safety Show-N-Shine class features a Classic Car Reunion. All vintage steel older than 1960 will be honored prior to the start of drag racing.  MCR Safety Show-N-Shine car show judging begins at 6:00 p.m. and practice drag runs begin at 6:15 p.m.  Grandstand gates open at 6:30 p.m. with the drag eliminations starting at 9:09 p.m.  For more information, visit www.atlantamotorspeedway.com.

East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL will hold their Independence Day Celebration, slated for Sunday, July 3, featuring the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series in a $2,500 to win shoot-out.  Also competing will be the Limited Sportsman, Hobby, Bomber, Modified and Road Warrior divisions.  A front wheel drive Demolition Derby and fireworks display is also on tap.  Have a look at their website for more info.

– The USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by Goodyear is set for a triple-header that kicks off tonight (Friday), July 1 at Malden Speedway in Malden, Missouri. The series then moves into Tennessee for the final two nights. Saturday, July 2 finds the USCS drivers attacking the high banks of ¼ mile Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, Tennessee.
